Jamie Newbery returns to the Sidmouth Town squad for the trip to Teignmouth Town on Saturday (February 18).

Newbery has been sidelined since picking up an injury before Christmas playing for the Devon Under-18s.

With experienced striker Sean Densham (injury) and Ollie Binnion (unavailable), missing, the Newbery return is timely for Vikings boss Josh Stunell who says: “It’s a big boost for us to have Jamie back. He’s been missed as he has brings real class and poise to the back line.”

As for Densham’s absence, the Town boss says: “Sean being out is a big blow. He brings so much to the front line and I guess without his physical presence and his experienced football brain we’ll have to tweak our style and go for pace as opposed to power in the final third.”

The game at Teignmouth Town is one that Stunell sees is ‘very winnable’. He says: “It all depends which Teignmouth side turns up. I saw them at Axminster where they were woeful and yet, on their day, they can destroy any side at this level.”

In terms of the blank weekend last Saturday – Town were without a match and had their game the week before postponed owing to a waterlogged Torridgeside pitch – Stunell says: 2It’s a shame as I felt we had some real momentum building after the three successive wins. We’ve been without a game for a fortnight, but the lads have been training and there’s so much of the season left for us. We are moving into the business end of the campaign and I think the lads will relish going to Teignmouth and bringing back something to show for their efforts – a fourth straight Town win? Now that would be something!”
