The Lyme Regis ladies secured two points away at Broadstone Wessex in what was their last league game of the season, writes Paul Moffitt.

The points do mean that the ladies are now assured of their place in Division One of the Dorset Ladies’ League next year.

In the three friendlies played over the past week, Lyme won comfortably away to Queen Camel, but got thrashed by tourists from Barnwood BC and by Yeovil. The men from the two league teams had their annual end-of-season roll-up and supper on Monday, with gifts being handed out by league captains Trevor Allman and Alan Nabarro to the ladies who very generously give up their Monday evenings to provide us with food after the game.

Dorset Ladies Div 1.

Lyme 53, Broadstone Wessex 65: Dowling, C Pomeroy, L Broom, C Barber (21-20); A Allman, A Darvill, A Rattenbury, P Weech (15-27); V Henson, N Driscoll, N Stephens, S Rowe (17-18).

I’ve misplaced the Barnwood and Yeovil results, so will try to include them next week.

An important reminder to all club members please that the club’s finals are this weekend (September 15 and 16), so please come and support the finalists – they would greatly appreciate it.
