The annual Honiton Challenge match took place at the weekend, writes Ann Desmoulins.

The men, seniors, ladies and juniors, all fielded ten players to compete for the Honiton Challenge trophy.

The format for this always keenly contested trophy was that only the best six scores in each team count.

The ladies were triumphant with a total score of 202 points.

Next up were the seniors with 191 points, followed by the men with 174 points.

The juniors did really well with some very young members, one or two of whom were doing 18 holes for the first time!

It was great to see the different sections in the club all together in the clubhouse after the competition and the juniors were treated to burger and chips.

There are also two other trophies played for on the same day with the Hansford trophy, in effect a match-play between the man and lady in each group and the ladies landed a most decisive win in this, eight-and-a-half to one-and-a-half!

The Otter trophy is determined by the best total 10 scores between the ladies and the seniors.

This match was halved with both teams scoring 297 points.

However, as the ladies won it last year, they retain the trophy.
