Budleigh Salterton Reserves were 5-2 winners when they entertained Tedburn St Mary in a Macron League Division Three game, writes SpursTom.

The Robins received an early blow as they fell behind after just two minutes when a right wing cross was turned home from close range by Steve Heardson.

The visitors threatened to add to their lead before the Robins found their feet and levelled with defender James Gill providing the assist for a 19th minute Ross James goal.

Twelve minutes later Achref Ghanmi struck a set-piece delivery that took a deflection to put the Robins 2-1 ahead and they carried that advantage through to half-time.

The start of the second half mirrored the first! Two minutes after the restart, Darren Hughes scored for the visitors to make it 2-2.

However, once again, after a slow start, the Robins powered back and, with James at the heart of things, it was no surprise when he scored his second following some neat approach play by Ben Haycock to give Budleigh a 3-2 lead on 66 minutes.

The goal of the match was a superb strike from Jack Pepper, who drilled his shot low into the bottom left hand corner with the keeper rooted to the spot.

With time running out teenager Harry Gibbings rode three tackles before releasing the ball into space for Cameron Brown to run onto and he slipped it past the advancing Tedburn goalkeeper to complete the scoring. In scoring, both Gibbings and the glovesman were injured in a collision which left the visiting player unable to see out the contest.

The Budleigh Man of the Match award went to the deserving Ben Haycock.
