Honiton Town were almost thrown another ‘big favour’ in the Macron League title race when rivals Newtown found themselves 2-0 down at home to Okehampton in a midweek encounter.

However, Newtown rallied and eventually won the game 4-3.

The ‘third’ of the title challengers – Elmore – were gifted another three points when Exmouth Amateurs, who Honiton Town play a week on Saturday (April 29), were unable to raise a side for the midweek meeting at Horsdon Park.

This Saturday (April 22), Town entertain Beer Albion at Mountbatten Park in what does look increasingly like a title ‘decider’ for the Hippos.

The Mountbatten Park kick-off on Saturday is 3pm. Playing also Saturday are Newtown, who host Feniton and Elmore travel to Heavitree United in what may well prove to be a pivotal match day in the Macron League title battle.

Heading into this weekend’s games the top of the Macron League Premier Division reads.
