Honiton’s Julie Grant named the 2018-19 president of the Devon indoor bowling association

The 2018-2019 president of the Devon County Ladies’ Indoor Bowling Association is Julie Grant from Honiton Bowling Club, writes Joan Mackintosh.

The season opening match was held at Honiton during the past week.

Ladies from 15 indoor clubs as well as officers past and present of the county enjoyed a game of bowls followed by tea.

The charity that Julie has chosen for her term of office is Devon Freewheelers, who brought one of their bikes to the club for all to see.

In terms of club action, Honiton went to Axminster to contest a mixed friendly match that Honiton won 63 shots to 51.

The top rink was the one of Y Williams, D Young, G Osborne and G Stafrace, who won 33-10.

A mixed friendly triples match took place on Saturday afternoon between the members of the club.

The top rink was the one of R Sennitt, P Baker and B Nicholls, who won 28-9.

After the match, 31 members and supporters enjoyed a splendid sausage and mash supper prepared by David and Tony Tooley.
