The Honiton ladies played one of the major competitions in their golfing calendar – the Autumn Closed, which also included the Betty Harris Memorial Cup.

This is awarded for the lowest nett score of the day, with a maximum handicap allowance of 30.

On a warm autumnal morning, 33 ladies played an 18-hole medal, where Silver Division was won by Elizabeth Ward with a 74 with Vicki Rogers (75) second, ahead on count-back of Elizabeth Wood. Bronze One winner was Brenda Hyde with her score of 75, with Sharon Rouse (77) second and Chris Luttman (79) third. Winner of Bronze 2, and the Betty Harris Cup was Cathy Pawley with her splendid 73, ahead of Danusia White (78) and Vera Richardson (80). The best gross score over 18 holes was the 90 carded by Vicki Rogers, after countback.

Four ladies played in the 9-hole Stableford with Linda Northover winning with a score of 11 points.

The Longest Drive competition on the 18th was won by Vicki Rogers with Diana Gee winning the Nearest the Pin competition on the second hole.

There were no twos, so Vicki Rogers and Elizabeth Ward won seven balls each in the card draw.
