Division 1

OPG, 36, Weather Girls 19

Flamingos 54, Tip Top Trees 14

Uplowman 31, Signs South West 32

After three weeks at the top Uplowman needed another victory to hang on to the top spot – but in a very close contest with Signs South West it was not to be – but it was oh so close!

With Rowan Williams playing well at GK it was SSW who had the best of the first period as they went into a 10-5 lead. In the second period Andrea Britten got Uplowman moving and at half way it was all square at 15-15. Uplowman maintained the momentum and going into the final period had established a lead – a slender lead at 25-23. Signs South West but they dug deep and staged a marvellous recovery to steal the victory at the final whistle with a 32-31 win.

The defeat of Uplowman gave OPG and Flamingos the opportunity to move above them and they both took the opportunity. OPG were up against Weather Girls and with Harriet Eaton in fine form they were 17-7 ahead with the Met Office looking as if they were out of it. They had other ideas though and with Jo Robbins playing well they fought hard and did enough to gain a point from their 19-36 defeat.

Flamingos met bottom placed Tip Top Trees. Flamingos had maximum points from their games, thanks to their 54-14 win, whilst Trees are still searching for that elusive first point.

Division 2

Howden Hawks 24, Pixies 36

Hi Q 37, Otter Valley Dairy 11

Sidmouth Toucans 37, Water Babes 8

The top of the table is still nip and tuck in division two with Hi Q and Pixies both on 21 points – but with the advantage with Hi Q as they have played one game less and have a 100 per cent record. Both sides recorded victories with Hi Q victorious against Otter Valley Dairy. Hi Q led from the start and were never in danger going on to win by 37-11. Bev Parris once again was their star whilst it was Charlotte Paley at GS who caught the eye for OVD. Pixies were up against Howden Hawks and with Emma Griffin playing well at centre they led throughout the match to record a 36-24 victory. This result gave Hawks a point, gained in no small measure due to some fantastic work at GD from Zoe Dunn.

Sidmouth Toucans moved up into third place when they recorded a 37-8 win over the Water Babes.

Babs Kutovic had a fine game for the Babes at GD whilst it was the effervescent Vicki Russell who stole the show for Toucans .
