Cycle West Velo Vintage, based in Seaton, is going to form part of the Exmouth Christmas Cracker on Saturday, December 1, which, is being held in the Strand, right in the centre of town.

The cyclists, on a mixture of modern and vintage bicycles, will circle the Strand a couple of times before heading off on their ride and a few festive treats to be held in a most traditional setting, a barn!

The organiser Alistair Cope said: “We are delighted to be back in Exmouth, where we feel so at home and welcome. We have a short ride of about eight miles and a break just over halfway for mulled wine and mince pies (thank you Riverford) together with entertainment by Blitz and Peaces.”

Alistair continued: “We had such fun on our last occasion and such strong local support, we just had to do something again this year. We still have plenty of room for people to sign up and join us, just register via our website www.velovintage.co.uk. With prizes for the best dressed and the best decorated bicycle and some secret surprises in store it should be great.

“All we ask is that you dress in a vintage style between the 1920s to 1970s.”

Isabelle Parfitt, project lead for Cycle West says: “Cycle West is delighted to be teaming up with Velo Vintage once again, as part of Exmouth’s Christmas Cracker Festival. The quintessentially British rides are a fantastic way for people to come together to enjoy the Devon landscape and we want to encourage more people to get out on their bikes and enjoy the new Cycle West routes on their doorstep.”

Rebecca and Stuart of Bikelands in the Strand, Exmouth said: “We have a very special 24 carat gold, hand-painted Bicycle Mug, as our prize for the Best Dressed Bicycle.”
