Five star Lympstone Under-11s sail into cup last four

Lympstone Spartans Under-11s confidently sailed into the semi-finals of the Exeter and District Youth League KO Cup with a 5-1 victory over Feniton.

Spartans began well, and Jack Ward twice got through only to be denied first by an upright and then a smart save by the Feniton goalkeeper.

However, the pressure eventually told and Spartans edged ahead, albeit from an own goal.

Five minutes after going ahead Spartans were 2-0 up thanks to a Charlie Cardwell goal.

With Isaac Halliday making vital tackles in centre midfield and Sol Onoyiweta playing some nice one-twos with team mates together with an organised and disciplined defence in which Callum Gore, Tom Case and Samuel Briggs all shone, Spartans saw the game through to half-time with their 2-0 lead intact.

Early in the second half Feniton hit back with a clinical finish. The Lympstone reaction was excellent and Jack Smith came off the bench to restore the two-goal advantage.

Jack Ward then showed some fine finishing, scoring twice to power his side into a 5-1 lead.

Sol Onoyiweta was denied a sixth for his side by a superb save from the Feniton goalkeeper.
