The final week of the Feniton Bowls Club 2018 outdoor season saw the men’s team lose their last-16 match in the County Trophy competition, writes Roger Smith.

Feniton were beaten 80-49 by Barnstaple with the lone winning Feniton rink being the one of P Bright, G Phillips, D Coyne and A Kury, 20-18.

The ladies finished their season with a 37-21 win in a friendly match against Chardstock.

The winning rinks were: D Bowden, J Skinner and D Phillips, 18-8, and P Figg, A Pritchard and R Veitch, 19-13.

The mixed team enjoyed a good 83-62 success away at Sidmouth where the winning rinks were: D Sanders, C Sanders, G Phillips and R Clarke, 28-13, and A Morgan, A Coyne, R North and D Coyne, 24-13.

The outstanding internal club competitions were played and they saw Vanessa and Arthur Murdoch defeat Cara and Dave Sanders in the Husband and Wife competition by 18-14 while, in the club pairs, Dave Sanders and Di Phillips triumphed over Graham Phillips and Roger Binmore by 27 shots to 16.

On reflection, it has been an excellent season for the club with the men’s team reaching the last 16 of the County Trophy competition.

The men’s Over-60s B team were champions of Division Five in the Exeter and District Triples League, and, in the same competition, the club’s A team achieved their highest ever position in Division Two.

There was also success for the ladies, who won their Over-50s Triples League and several members of the club achieved success in a variety of county competitions by winning their Section Three finals.
