Exmouth Town stage one of their biggest matches in recent times on Wednesday night when they entertain fellow SWP league Eastern Division side Stoke Gabriel.

The two teams go head-to-head for a place in the semi-finals of the Throgmorton Cup which is the league Cup for the South West Peninsula League.

There is a £300 prize for the Eastern Division side getting the furthest in the competition and also a £300 for each of the beaten semi-finalists and all that means is that Wednesday night’s game is worthy £600 to the winning team!

Town boss Richard Pears says; “Having beaten them (Stoke Gabriel) already this season could be seen as a negative for they will, be more determined than ever to see us off. That said we are the home team and we are in great form and as long as my team do their individual and collective jobs and give everything they have got then there’ll be no complaints fro me post match. It’s a big game, there’s no escaping that, but we have assembled a squad to not only deal with the big games, but to thrive on them.”

Kick-off is at 7.30pm and there will be news of the game here on the Journal website from 10pm on Wednesday with full reaction later in the week.
