Exmouth United U11s make flying start to new season

Exmouth United Under-11s have managed to secure a super new kit sponsorship with local company Sheds Direct Devon Limited and the team went out to the company for a promotional picture.

Boosted by the new kit, and wearing it for the first time, the team began a new Exeter and District Youth League campaign with a 5-2 win away at West Hill.

However, it did not all go according to plan! That’s because the side started the game with the same habits that had frustrated their coaches for much of last season – a sloppy start – that left them 2-0 down just five minutes into the game!

United were back in the contest when the ball fell to Louis Farr and he made no mistake with a shot from the edge of the area.

The goal changed the game and, with goalkeeper Noah Brown taking charge of his area and showing good distribution skills, United began to take charge.

When a crisp shot from Jack Lopez cannoned back off the upright, Dominic Lawrence was quickest to react and he drilled it home to leave the sides at 2-2 at half-time.

After the break there was no stopping United and, boosted by fresh legs from the substitutes’ bench, they were soon looking for a third goal. It arrived when Lopez played a pin-point through-ball that Zach French ran on to before firing it into the net.

Lawrence then scored his second to double the United lead and an impressive team performance was sealed when French bagged his second of the game.

The United Man of the Match award went to goalkeeper Noah Brown.
