Exmouth United Under-11s were 6-0 winners when they made the short trip across to Sidmouth for an Exeter and District Youth League match, writes Nic Lopez.

United handed first starts to Oliver Kielty and Ted McCafferey, who have both impressed in training since joining the club recently.

In a bright start, United scored when a curling effort from Jack Lopez hit the bar and fell to the feet of Zach French to tap home the opener after just two minutes.

With Oliver Kielty, Jack Lopez and Barney Tate linking well, it was no surprise when the second goal arrived, a well-worked move that ended with centre back Euan Sutton scoring.

During half-time United coach Carl Farr championed his players to focus on the principles of communication and strong tackling and stay disciplined in defence.

The third goal came after a superb through-ball from Lopez released French to run on and score from an acute angle.

Kielty punished a poor goal kick to weave his way round a number of challenges before making it 4-0. A strong run and cross from the right wing by Oliver Darville found Ted McCafferey, who cleverly back-heeled the ball to the advancing Oliver Kielty, who rifled it home for his second and United’s fifth and the final goal was scored by French, completing his hat-trick to round off another super team display.

Indeed, such was the all-round nature of the team show that the Man of the Match award was shared by all who took part!
