Exmouth Town march on in FA Vase after 3-0 home win

Exmouth Town will be in Monday’s FA Vase 1st Round proper draw after an outstanding 3-0 home win over Western League Premier Division table-topping Bridgwater Town.

Leading scorer Ace High scored two of the goals- he is now into double figures for the season - that gave Town a richly deserved victory before another big Southern Road crowd.

In terms of the other Town teams in action, the second team were edged out by the odd goal in three in their East Devon Senior Cup tie at Beer Albion while the third team went down 5-1 at Priory in Exeter in a Devon Intermediate Cup tie.

There was a heavy defeat for Budleigh Salterton in their SWPL Eastern Division game at home to high-flying Elmore, who returned to their Mid Devon home with an 8-0 victory. The Budleigh second team also lost 8-0, in their case it was in a Devon Senior Cup tie away at Winchester.

In terms of other local teams on the third Saturday of September, Lympstone had a good 5-2 win in their Devon Senior Cup tie at South Devon side Harbertenford.

East Budleigh Reserves beat visiting Starcross 2-0 in a Devon Intermediate Cup tie and, in the same competition, Exmouth Spartans had a win without kicking a ball in anger as their scheduled opposition cried off to give Spartans a walkover passage into the next round.
