Exmouth Town chairman praises club ‘working parties’

PUBLISHED: 12:30 11 July 2018

As Exmouth Town’s Southern Road ground prepares to host the first warm-up game for the Town second team, chairman Stuart Shaw has been singing the praises of the ‘collective’ that look after the playing surface and also the other ‘working groups’ that are so active around the club.

The chairman is not one to forget the parts played by the many in the running of the club and says: “The likes of John ‘Dibs’ Dibsdall and Martin Cook together with the cluster of Town heroes that are known as ‘MUFTI’ really go ‘over and above’ in terms of the work they do.”

He continued: “It’s a well-oiled phrase used in life as well as football, but the club really ‘couldn’t do without the likes of the ‘MUFTI’ crew’ and I am so grateful to them for their energy and efforts. Its so important that we all recognise that our club is not simply about the first team. We are a club and in this together from top to bottom, be that the folk who always seem to be doing those jobs that are seldom noticed, to the youngest of our youth players right through to the former Town player who perhaps now just sees themselves as a follower of the club and a supporter in the bar.”

That first warm-up game for the Town second team is Saturday’s Southern Road meeting with Whipton and Pinhoe (2pm). Admission to the game is free to all.

Meanwhile, Kevin Hill takes the Town first team to Tiverton for a match against the Southern League side.
