Following a promising and action packed start to 2018, Land Rover ambassador Henry Slade enjoyed a rare day away from the rugby field this week, putting his driving skills to the test during an off-road driving day at Land Rover Experience centre, near Honiton in Exeter.

The young Exeter Chief, known for his balance, composure and deft skillset on the field, swapped rugby ball for steering wheel to negotiate the challenging Devonian terrain.

As rugby fans have come to expect, Slade took it all in his stride and put on a calm performance behind the wheel of the all new Discovery, navigating the driving course with ease.

It was Slade’s first time off-road driving and offered a welcome day of downtime, following a tough final pool game, away to Glasgow Warriors, that saw the Chiefs conclude their European Champions Cup campaign, with results going against them.

Nevertheless, Slade has his sights set on driving the reigning English champions on to further silverware this season as well as adding to his international honours, after being selected to don the Red Rose again, following his performances last autumn.

Land Rover has a heritage in supporting rugby at all levels - from grassroots to elite - with its ambassadors forming a key part of the brand’s involvement in the sport. With nearly two decades spent supporting rugby globally, Land Rover will this season be celebrating its tenth season of the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, a series of UK grassroots rugby tournaments that have been responsible for unearthing the next generation of rugby talent.
