Rowan Edbrooke was the clear winner of the ladies’ October medal competition at East Devon Golf Club last week, on a day when scoring proved difficult, writes Helen Chivers.

Edbrooke claimed victory by three shots over fellow Bronze Division player Jasmine Clapson and the rest of the field of 70 players, as she recorded a four under par round of nett 70.

Rowan and Jasmine (one under par nett 73) were followed in Bronze Division by Pippa Norman in third on nett 81.

Di Willoughby took fourth place on a countback from Julie Sampson and Barbara Middleditch as they all scored nett 82s.

Claire Dowling led the way in Silver Division with a level par round of nett 74. She was a long way clear of Elaine Bright, Jane Williams and Sally Underwood, who were separated on countback as they all scored rounds of nett 80.

Carole Brailey’s better back nine saw her take fifth place from Nina Hawkins as they both came home with scores of nett 81.
