Chard Under 14s got a win and new kit to show off when they played Wellington in a hard fought contest, writes Glyn Hughes.

It was the greater fitness that proved decisive as Chard went on to win the fixture 31-12.

Tries were scored for Chard by Warren Bowditch, Joe Peacock and and Leo Slade with successful kicks from Bowditch and Ethan Underhill.

Chard coach Matt Bowditch said: “I am very proud of the way the team worked together and stepped up a gear in the second half to get the result through determination and good rugby skills.”

In relation to the new kit, Bowditch added: I must also place on record our very sincere thanks to rose and Martin from Barleymows Farm shop and Colin and Tina from Total Financial Wealth Management for supplying reversible shirts and shorts for each player. Sponsorship backing such as this is so important to clubs and we are so grateful to the two business’s for backing us.”
