Axminster bowlers seek your support in bid for new outdoor bowling carpet

Axminster Bowls Club is looking for support in its bid to get a new outdoor bowls carpet to replace the one that is sadly now no longer fit for purpose.

The club is taking part in the latest round of funding bidding to Aviva and is asking folk to kindly support them by voting in favour of their bid at

A club spokesperson said: “We are so keen to get some funding as we see this very much as an opportunity for the club to continue to provide members of the local community with an affordable opportunity to play outdoor bowls and also, by association, provide a social centre for members.

“For older members it is a very important meeting and social networking facility and it also serves to improve their fitness and wellbeing.

“The opportunity to spend time outdoors in the fresh air is highly beneficial.

“The club encourages good contact between younger and older members and fosters understanding and collaboration across the generations.

“The club also encourages and develops young players to attend and compete in national events and supports disabled groups to use our facilities where possible.

“We provide funding for young players in terms of fees and also keep a stock of second hand bowls and clothing which can be loaned or sold at a very reduced cost in order to allow our club to be inclusive.”

Axminster Outdoor Bowls Club is part of the Cloakham Lawn Sports Centre, but run as a separate club. Anyone who can help by casting a vote in support of the bid is asked to visit the https address at the start of this article.
