October was a busy time for the main Axe Cliff club starting with the monthly medal with good scores despite the challenging weather, writes Dave Bruce.

In Division One, Steve Bond won with a nett 72 with Andy Moore taking second spot with a nett 74.

There were even better scores in Division Two with an excellent nett 67 from Danny Taylor and Harvey Gibbon coming second with a fine nett 70.

Danny and Ian Burraston carded twos. Then we had a Bowmaker format three-man team event with two scores to count.

Good to see Ian Burraston, Mike Rymer and Dave Steele play well together to grab first place with a tremendous 84, just beating the Hellier team of Phil and brothers Andrew and Anthony on 83 points.

Andrew and Anthony together with Stuart Mackie also managed twos on their cards, At the end of the month, in the first round of the Winter League, last year’s Captain, Steve Anning, is in the lead with a nett 71 just edging out Andy Moore on countback.

Ian Burraston finishing a good month, for him, came third with a nett 72 closely followed by Tony Strong with a fine nett 74.

Twos were in abundance with Andy Moore and Alan Kenworthy getting a brace each and one from Dave Steele.
