Axe Cliff ladies win well on visit to Sidmouth

Axe Cliff ladies played a friendly greensomes match at Sidmouth, writes Pete Motson.

Eight ladies from both clubs went out onto a sun-kissed course with each one of the Axe Cliff ladies having to give shots to their opposition numbers!

What followed was an excellent three-and-two success for the Axe Cliff ladies.

Helen Kenworthy and Janet Dack won three up, Margaret Kenchington and Helen Gaudie got a half, Sandra Walker and Jo Donmall won one up and Stella Thompson and Barbara Cummings won three-and-two.

The ladies followed the win at Sidmouth with a midweek Bring and Win competition.

It was played over 18 holes with the format being six clubs and a putter stableford.

Again although grey and misty, the conditions were favourable, with little wind and the first three scores reflected this!

It was Margaret Kenchington who took first place with her score of 37 points. Countback was called into play to determine the second and third places and it resulted in Anne Jarvis taking the runners-up spot and Helen Kenworthy settling for third after the pair both recorded scores of 32 points.
