Celebrations being held on Thursday mark the opening of a new £60,000 all-weather play area in Woodbury.

Celebrations being held on Thursday mark the opening of a new £60,000 all-weather play area in Woodbury.

The new multi-use games area, on the current playing fields, is for five-a-side football, netball, basketball and cricket; it has space for people to exercise and disabled access.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is being held on Thursday, June 14, where an official of the Norman Family Trust, the charity who donated part of the funds for the new facilities, will officially open the new play area.

There will be an opening party with refreshments at 3.30pm; the ribbon cutting is at 4pm. All are welcome.

Gary King, Woodbury community playing fields chairman, said: “We are delighted that the multi-use games area is now available for all to enjoy. “It enhances already improved playground facilities here in Woodbury; two years ago we completed a project to replace the old playground with a modern and exciting range of equipment.”
