Shebbear College’s Lake Chapel was lit up by the glow of hundreds of candles during the annual Candlelit Carol Service.

The congregation, consisting of parents, pupils and staff were backed by the Lower and Senior School Choirs.

The bidding prayer and Christmas messages were given by the school’s stand-in chaplain Tim Aldridge and Bible readings were given by junior school pupil Connie Gillies, lower school pupil Nadia Blaskiewicz, teacher Judith Aliberti, middle school pupil Sam Westlake, sixth form pupil Charles Kent and headmaster Bob Barnes.

During the service the congregation sang traditional carols and were treated to superb vocal performances of ‘Alleluia’ and ‘Christmastide’ by the Senior Choir, ‘Silent Night’ by the Ensemble and ‘Ring the Bells’ by the Lower School Choir. Following the service hot mince pies and mulled wine were well received in the dining hall. You can see film clips of various festive events on YouTube, just type in ‘Shebbeartube’.
