Seaton GPs Mark Welland and Joe Kent are in training for the Grizzly Run on Sunday (March 18) in aid of the Seaton and District Hospital League of Friends.

The pair, from Seaton and Colyton Medical Practice, are running to raise funds for Seaton Friends Hospiscare@Home Nursing Service.

This vital end-of-life service, funded by the Hospital League of Friends, allows people registered with a Beer, Colyton or Seaton medical practice to spend their final months or weeks in their own home, with family, while they receive expert nursing care.

Dr Welland, chairman of the Hospital League of Friends said: “The work done by the dedicated nurses of the service is so valuable to patients and their families that it makes all the pain of the training and the run worthwhile. With the help of the generous people of Seaton we hope to raise a considerable amount to help them continue their care.” There is still time to sponsor the doctors. Forms are in both Seaton and Colyton Health Centres, and in both League of Friends’ charity shops in Fore Street, Seaton. Donations can also be made on line via the website
