Tutor Jackie Nicholls shows how to produce a fabulous floral arrangement

A recent flower arranging workshop inspired three Axminster ladies to make a beautiful contemporary bowl of roses.

After watching a step-by-step demonstration at Combe St Nicholas Hall, it was their turn to get down to some floral fun.

Ro Suckling, who attended from Axminster along with Jean Rowe and Gillie George, said: “I learnt a lot ...it was great to have a go myself and nice to meet other like-minded people. I was really pleased with my design.”

“Jackie’s enthusiasm is infectious, there were lots of useful tips about buying and preparing flowers”, added Jean Rowe.

Gillie George commented: “I learnt how to use wire to add a design element to my arrangement, it was great fun.”

Somerset’s award-winning tutor Jackie Nicholls from Ashville Design who runs the workshops said: “This was a very simple modern-day design for a class who were absolutely full of enthusiasm about flowers.

“Even if you don’t know a freesia from a gladiolus, this just goes to prove that you don’t need any experience to produce a fabulous floral arrangement.

“I really can’t think of a nicer way to bring sunshine into someone’s life – arranging flowers always does it. Well done ladies.”
