Rockfish restaurant diners gave a cash boost to Exmouth Beach Rescue Club for lifeguard patrols and life saving training.

A flotilla from the volunteer beach rescue club recently paddled from its base on Queen’s Drive, Exmouth, to the Marina, where members were presented with £6,402 thanks to diners’ donations.

Restaurant customers were given the option of adding an extra £1 to their bill, to be donated to Exmouth Beach Rescue Club.

The cash will help fund voluntary lifeguard patrols on Exmouth beach and also pay for life saving training for club members.

Mitch Tonks, owner of the Rockfish restaurant chain, said: “We are so delighted that with the support of customers we are able to help this great community organisation, right on our doorstep.

“The work they do in promoting safety in our waters is fantastic.”

The club’s new fully adjustable double racing ski, funded by a previous Rockfish donation, made its maiden voyage, joined by more than 20 other craft from the club; en-route members performed rescue demonstrations.
