Region remains on standby as flood alerts and weather warnings reach into the new year in North Devon.

Flooding help

If you are in danger or worried about flooding call the Environment Agency’s Floodline on 0845 988 1188.

THE severe flood warnings may have dampened but North Devon is still on alert with more wet weather on the way.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued across the region until 3pm today (Thurs) and from 6pm Friday until 9am Saturday.

New Years celebrations are set to be soggy this year as heavy rain is also forecast on Sunday and Monday.

Flood alerts also remain in place for the upper and lower Torridge, the lower Taw, and the rivers Caen, Bradiford Water and Yeo.

Persistent, heavy rain and high winds are expected over the coming days.

In Braunton, community clean ups have been delayed until the flood warnings are removed.

The village was hit twice by several feet of water in 24 hours on Friday and Saturday.

Flooding between Exeter St Davids and Barnstaple has also caused trains to be cancelled until December 29.

A replacement bus service is running but First Great Western said it may not serve all station due to flooding on local roads.

If you suspect you are in danger of flooding and wish to seek advice see the contacts box on the right hand side of the page.
