Balti remains a hot favourite in the show ring

An Axmouth cat named after a Indian curry lived up to her billing as the hot favourite when she took part in another prestigious competition.

Balti collected several major awards at the combined Kernow and South West British Shorthair Cat shows in Exeter. Imperial Grand Champion and Imperial Grand Premier Wellmar Balti, a British Brown Spottie female neuter, won all her classes in both shows, got her first Olympian certificate in one and Reserve Olympian in the other. She was also awarded two best of breeds and was best in show British Neuter in The South Western British Cat Club Show. Delighted owner Patricia Absalom said: “As she is now eight years old I was really proud of her.”

Mrs Absalom names all her cats after Indian-inspired dishes because she says they are “brown – and vey spicy”!
