An appeal for Christmas gifts has been launched in Exmouth, calling for donations of presents for familes being cared for by the Children’s Hospice South West over the festive holiday period. Building supplies firm RGB has launched its annual charity appeal.

An appeal has been launched in Exmouth for donations of Christmas presents for families supported by the Children’s Hospice South West over the festive holiday.

Gifts for the RGB Building Supplies annual Christmas present appeal can be left at the Exmouth branch, in Pankhurst Close, Littleham, from now until December 1.

The local branch will be displaying a Christmas tree where people can leave a gift suitable for a child of any age, or their parents, for the hospice to distribute to its families in time for Christmas Day.

The Children’s Hospice South West is RGB’s chosen charity; the building supplies firm hosts a Christmas appeal for the cause each year.

All presents, no matter the size or value, will be gratefully received - RGB asks that gifts are left unwrapped to ensure they are age appropriate for the recipient.

Alby Cruse, RGB Exmouth branch manager, said: “We were overwhelmed by the number of gifts donated to our 2016 appeal, so we’re delighted to bring it back this year; it’s clear that Children’s Hospice South West is a much-loved charity which the local community is keen to support.

“Presents suitable for a young child or teenager, or something small for parents can be donated, so that no member of a family is missed.

“In advance, we would like to thank everyone who donates a gift.”

Naomi Dymond, Children’s Hospice South West spokeswoman, praised the ‘wonderful support’ of those who donated in previous years, and thanked anyone planning to leave gifts for the 2017 appeal.

She said: “We received the most incredible number of gifts for our children and families following RGB’s Christmas appeal last year, and can’t thank the community enough for its generosity.

“Christmas is such an important and poignant time for our families and this appeal is a great way to support our work and help us to continue to raise a smile. Thank you for your wonderful support.”

The Children’s Hospice South West provides care for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families. The care offered ranges from respite and short breaks, to emergency and end-of-life care.
