Rush to get to Exeter highlighted by chairman of Honiton residents’ association.

Some drivers are taking a “suicide stance” in a rush to get to Exeter, it has been claimed.

Ken Sherman, chairman of the Northcote Lane Area Residents’ Association, told the group’s annual meeting last week: “When I am on the A30, driving along at a comfortable 60mph and overtaking a lorry, I can get a car behind flashing its lights at me because it wants to go faster.

“But you get to the traffic lights near the M5 and that same vehicle is just two cars in front. It is ridiculous.

“People are taking a suicide stance to get to Exeter.”

Mr Sherman was speaking at Dunning Court on Thursday last week at a meeting that attracted a poor turnout.

  • The speed limit on the A30 is 70mph, so if you are doing 60mph it is no wonder people want to get by you,

  • He shouldn't be holding anyone up because he should be in the inside lane at that speed! I'd certainly be flashing my headlights!
