Devon County Council has added its voice to protests against planned changes to education funding.

The Government says that its proposed ‘fairer funding’ reform will target unfairness in school funding, but the county council says under the plans two-thirds of Devon schoolchildren would see their school’s funding reduced.

The council’s cabinet member for children, schools and skills, James McInnes, has added his signature to a letter to Prime Minister Theresa May, signed by authorities from across the country, calling for a rethink.

Exmouth Community College has said its funding would be reduced by £79,000 a year under the proposals.
