Countryside team and volunteers raise £145 for Hospiscare

East Devon District Council Countryside team and volunteers recently raised more than £145 in aid of local charity Hospiscare by hosting a coffee morning at Seaton Wetlands.

Volunteers baked a range of delicious cakes, which were sold for a donation to help support patients with a life limiting illness, and their family and friends, in Exeter, mid and East Devon.

Attendees were able to enjoy their refreshments in the Reed Base or on outdoor seating in the picnic area or by the pond.

Cllr Tom Wright, EDDC’s environment spokesman, said: ‘’It is fantastic that the volunteers at Seaton Wetlands were able to use the site to raise a considerable sum for Hospiscare, while giving people the opportunity to explore the Local Nature Reserve.’’

Susie Healy, community fundraiser at Hospiscare said: ‘’We are very grateful for all the hard work the staff and volunteers put into their coffee morning and the amazing array of cakes they had on offer is reflected by the donations they received.’’
