Volunteers needed to remove litter and debris from Monmouth Beach in the annual clean up
Clean-up campaigners are appealing for volunteers for another sweep of Monmouth beach in Lyme Regis.
A one-hour beach clean session is being planned for Saturday, September 23, between 12noon and 1pm.
Prior to the work there will be a briefing session for the volunteers on the Cobb harbour slipway at 11.45am.
Beach clean co-ordinator Krys Lavery said: ”We clean the beach four times a year and often fill between 18 and 30 big sacks.
“It’s actually good fun and we welcome all helpers to the briefing.
“I advise them to wear protective shoes or boots and equipment for dealing with rubbish is provided.”
* Last year’s Monmouth Beach cleaners found not only the most common rubbish consisting of fishing lines, plastic bottles, sweet wrappers and disposable barbecues, but also several items of clothing including: a jacket, a pair of trousers, two tops, a pair of knickers, a shoe and two odd socks.
